today was a pretty gloomy day (with rain in the morning) but once it stopped in the afternoon, we headed to himeji to see the himeji castle. it was still really overcast, but at least it didn't rain while we were out!
where himeji is (pretty close to kobe)
took the bullet train again! not long though, just 16 minutes haha...but at 170 mph!
grabbed food for the train ride again too. this sandwich was amazing! it was like an egg salad with lettuce, shrimp and asparagus! it was so, so yummy, and only $2.50!
once we got to the himeji station, it wasn't too far of a walk, and after a while you could see the castle at the end of the road! it's barely visible in this picture
there was a big field across the street from the castle's entrance which was pretty cool
this was the little character they use everywhere for himeji castle stuff haha...one again, adorable ;)
the view of the castle from across the street. you can see they have started a bit of the planned renovation, but luckily we got here before they started on the main part of the castle!
at the entrance
LOTS of cherry trees inside
loved all the moss!
it was a very pretty castle :)
afterwards, we got some ice cream!!! erik got strawberry & apple/mango swirl, and i got black sesame! both were SOOOOO yummy
we headed back to the station to go back to kobe, but we walked through some of these open-air "mall" areas first.
and of course i had to take this cute puppy's picture haha
once we got back to the hotel, we took a little stroll around to look for some dinner, and saw all the cherry trees by our hotel lit up. so beautiful.
It looks like you are having so much fun! Beautiful pictures lady!
